Norbert Edomah, Nominated as Technical Committee Member, Nigerian Renewable Energy Bill Review

 

Dr. Norbert Edomah, a Faculty at the School of Science and Technology (SST), Pan-Atlantic University, has been nominated to join a Technical Committee to support the preparation of the Nigerian Renewable Energy Bill.  In addition, he has also been appointed to Chair the Research, Development and Local Content Development Thematic Working Group of the Committee.

Constituted by the Nigerian Renewable Energy Roundtable (NiRER) and the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), the Technical Committee is tasked with the responsibility of preparing a new Renewable Energy Bill that addresses some salient legislative gaps that can potentially unlock diverse opportunities within the renewable energy sector. The new bill is set to address issues relating to: licensing, regulations and standards; business, financial models and investment incentives; governance and institutional barriers; among others, in the Nigeria renewable energy sector.

Besides teaching at the Pan-Atlantic University, Dr. Edomah engages with international agencies through consultancy and knowledge exchange programmes including the REN21, Heinrich Boll Stiftung (HBS), among others.

Dr. Edomah’s research interests lies in the multidisciplinary field of Energy Policy, Electricity Planning and Sustainability.  He has written widely on the Nigerian Energy Transitions.
