Pan-African University Governing Council

The Governing Council is the supreme body of the University and it appoints the University's Deans, Professors and Principal Officers. Decisions of special importance for the long-term future of the University are reserved to the Governing Council. Such reserved decisions include, among others, major policies and strategies, main appointments, conditions of service, remuneration, approval of recurrent and capital budgets, and establishment of new units.

Members of the Governing Council of the University, including the Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor, are appointed by the Board of Trustees of the Pan-African University Foundation for renewable periods of three years.

The Pro-Chancellor is a knowledgeable person whose integrity is not in doubt and whose moral stature, social standing and experience can guide the University towards full and continued development. He is the Chairman of the Governing Council. The former Pro-Chancellor was Chief Olu Akingugbe, LLD (Ibadan), CON.
